Frontier Artist Selection

This event is open to the young teachers, students, alumni and teams of China Academy of Art and other universities, and free art creators.

We accept artworks that integrate Chinese culture, cutting-edge creativity and digital creation to select the most outstanding creators and artworks. Combining cultural characteristics with innovations, we aim to explore the future of next-generation art.

Winners of this event will become contracted artists of THiNG.FUND and receive our professional guidance and global resources support. Their works have a chance to be converted into digital production and permanently stored in the Flow blockchain in the form of NFTs and promoted to global collectors.

Submission window: July 1, 2021 ~ July 31, 2021
Deliberation window: August 1, 2021 ~ August 31, 2021

There is no limit on the media form of submitted artworks. Contestants are encouraged to submit a traditional painting, sculpture/installation art, digital painting, digital multimedia, performance/performance art, etc.

We are issuing exclusive NFT commemorative badges for the shortlisted artists. 

The exclusive NFT commemorative badges for the shortlisted artists in the first Crypto· NextGen Frontier Artist Selection Contest have been minted. Co-organized by THiNG.FUND, China Academy of Art and Flow, the contest got special support from China Art Weekly and iFeng Art.

The NFT badges will be minted on the Flow Blockchain and permanently stored there.

The juries will examine the presentation of the work based on its composition, shape, colour, and spatial relationship, among others, and arrive at a final score by summarizing their opinions.

    Preliminary screening to determine the finalists.

    Professional review by the Jury.
    Online voting .

    Publication of the results of Jury review and online voting.
    The specific time is subject to the further announcement.

Artworks submission rules

  • Submission window:
    July 1, 2021 ~ July 30, 2021
  • Theme of the artworks:
    “Crypto · NextGen”-themed, the artworks must display avant-garde art with Chinese characteristics.。
  • Types of artworks:
    We accept traditional painting, sculpture/installation art, digital painting, digital multimedia, performance/performance art or other types of works.
  • Creation process:
    We hope to see the creation process of the work, from conception, drafting, creation to polishing and its potential impact on society.

    Records of the creation process include, but are not limited to, drafts, photos and videos. As part of the shortlisted artworks, they will be permanently stored on the blockchain.
  • Other requirements:
    We accept past works, provided they are consistent with the theme of this event.

    The copyright and ownership of the work must belong to the author in its entirety. Works that have been sold, gifted, or licensed are not accepted.

    Each creator can submit multiple works.
  • Ways of registration:
    Please fill out the form at the bottom of this page to submit your personal and artworks information. Please upload the artworks and related materials to an online drive and submit the download link.

    The event is entirely free. Any attempt at charging the author is a scam. Please be aware.
  • Requirements for submission:
    Please submit original and clear works, and give a detailed description of the ideas behind them.

    - Traditional painting: please submit digital photos of the works.

    - Sculpture/installation art work: please submit multi-angle digital photos and video records of the work.

    - Digital painting: please submit image files of the works.

    - Digital multimedia works: Please submit multimedia files of the works.

    - Performance/Performance Art Works: please submit media files and videos of the works.
  • Explanation of the ideas behind the works:
    Please explain the work's philosophy, creation process, operation procedure, interactive form, etc. in detail. You can use PPT/Keynote/PDF format, MOV/MP4/MPEG/AVI/WMV and other video formats, or use a separate web page for explanation.
